Every piece in our shop is an original, handcrafted 3D layered design created to capture the depth, character, and personality of the subjects we love. From classic cars, muscle cars, sports cars, and iconic Route 66 scenes to off-road vehicles, UTVs, desert and high country wildlife, cacti, and Southwestern landscapes, each work of art is carefully crafted and built layer by layer to create a striking three-dimensional effect you won’t find anywhere else.

Photos offer a glimpse, but they can’t fully capture the depth, dimension, and interplay of light and shadow that bring each piece to life. Viewed up close, the layers and details reveal a three-dimensional effect that changes with your perspective. Seeing a piece from different angles lets you appreciate the craftsmanship and character that a flat image simply can’t convey.

First of all, our pieces aren’t flat like a photograph.
We stack printed and spacer layers to create real depth.
Our finished pieces have 3D depth that literally brings the art to life before your eyes.
From Idea to Artwork
Start with a Vision
Every piece begins with a subject, a mood, and a direction-from a favorite vehicle, animal or a sweeping landscape.
Create the Concept
We establish the composition, colors, and style. Those original designs guide the detailed prompts we develop, with AI serving as one tool in our digital design process.
Design the Layers
We carefully separate the finished digital design into 10-15 individual layers, planning how each will contribute to the artwork’s depth and dimension.
Print the Layers
We print our high-resolution layers on heavyweight matte photo paper using professional eight-color dye-based printers, capturing rich colors and fine details.
Cut the Spacers
We precisely cut each printed layer and create foam spacers from sheets of EVA foam. These spacers provide the separation that brings the layered design to life.
Assemble by Hand
We assemble each piece by hand, carefully aligning and adhering the printed layers and foam spacers. An artist’s eye and a steady hand help every detail fall into place.
Frame and Display
We finish each piece in a shadowbox with lightweight, shatter-resistant acrylic. With pre-mounted wall hangers and a folding stand, your finished artwork is ready to hang on a wall or display on a shelf.

Arid Desert Design grew from a lifelong connection to art, design, and technology. Founder John developed an early appreciation for both creativity and precision.
His career took him through illustration, logo design, web development, and software engineering. Arid Desert Design marks a return to his creative roots, bringing those experiences together through original work inspired by the desert landscape and his love for the outdoors.
Based in Chandler, Arizona, Arid Desert Design creates distinctive pieces with an emphasis on personal expression, thoughtful design, and craftsmanship.
